OG image size: 1200×630 and the rules per platform

Use 1200×630 px (1.91:1), PNG or JPEG, under 1 MB. That one image works well on every major platform.

PlatformGuidance
Facebook1200×630 recommended. Minimum 200×200. Images under about 600 px wide show as a small thumbnail. Max 8 MB.
LinkedIn1200×627 recommended (1.91:1).
Xsummary_large_image uses a 2:1 ratio (min 300×157). summary uses 1:1 (min 144×144). Max 5 MB. JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF (first frame).
WhatsAppUses og:image. Small files (a few hundred KB) load most reliably.
Slack / DiscordUse og:image or twitter:image. Large images show as a big preview.

Safe zone

Platforms crop differently (1.91:1 vs 2:1 vs square thumbnails), so keep text and logos within the central ~1000×500 area. SVG isn't supported by Facebook, LinkedIn or X. The previewer reads your image's real pixel dimensions and file size.
